Counseling, also known as therapy or psychotherapy is a professional, collaborative, and relational process that empowers and enriches people to make positive changes, accomplish their therapeutic goals, and conquer emotional wounds.
The duration of therapy varies based on factors like the severity of your concerns and your motivation for change. Some issues may be resolved in fewer sessions, while others might take longer. Our goal is to help you reach a healthier place as efficiently as possible.
Therapy is about you and your change process. You always have the right to discontinue counseling with your therapist at any point. Lasting change takes place in a relationship that is the best “fit” between counselor and client. Your feedback throughout the counseling process is important to the therapist. If you decide you would like to change therapists, we will place you with another provider in our practice. If that doesn't work, a referral can be provided for you.
Therapists don't have all the answers or make decisions for you. Instead, we help you understand how your past and present impact your current situation and guide you in making positive changes for your future. Therapy is a collaborative process.
Therapy involves a significant investment of time, effort, and money. For a more detailed answer, contact your insurance and they will be able to answer your questions concerning costs.

Counseling is helpful for many people for many different reasons, but it only works if you are ready to commit to the process of change. When you work with a professional, they can help to provide insight, understanding, and a safe environment so that you can process life’s difficulties. When this happens, growth and healing are possible. Therapy is right for anyone who is ready to take initiative and work towards lasting changes for their life.
Counseling can be beneficial at any stage of life. It's normal to face challenges that feel overwhelming. Consider seeking counseling when: - Daily activities are disrupted by problems or concerns - There is conflict or instability in close relationships (work, marriage, family) - You are dealing with loss and grief - You have experienced a traumatic event - You are seeking personal growth or have identity concerns
Confidentiality is the backbone of the therapeutic process. This means that all aspects of your participation in therapy are confidential as outlined by federal and state law. These laws apply to such things as scheduling appointments, content disclosed in therapy sessions, and all records and documentation. Your therapist will cover the details of confidentiality, including law mandated limitations in your first therapy session.
